Canada defeats Swiss, USA defeats Sweden setting up Canada vs. USA final in WJHC

In semifinal action, Canada defeated Switzerland by a score of 6-1 today while USA beat the Swedes 5-2. For Oilers prospects, Jordan Eberle had one goal in the Canada game, while Anton Lander was the lone scorer for Sweden with both goals.

This sets up an epic battle Tuesday between the USA and Canada. The last time the two faced in the gold medal was in 2004 in Helsinki. The Americans won gold by a score of 4 to 3. Needless to say, this will be Canada’s toughest battle of the tournament. The two teams have already faced each other. The Canadians managed to come back from a 4-2 lead and win it 5-4 in the shootout in part to some more heroics by Jordan Eberle. Hopefully we can pay them dirty Yankees back for the 2004 loss and win this one. Sixpeat!

The Swedes will face the Swiss Tuesday afternoon at 2:00PM MST for the Bronze medal.
