He's only been played to any real extent once (i think 07/08) and he was 5 for 7. The other years he's only had one shot at most. As for Penner, Turco actually poke checked him when he got close, so it's not so much that he lost the puck. I think he still had it under control. Horcoff is pretty good in the shootout. Horcoff is usually good in the shootout as I recall. I think a lot of it is psychological, one thing about Horc. is he is fairly unflappable, sadly his hands are stone, and his injuries often get in his way. I am so happy for Smid, I'm not sure when I said it but I did call it that Smid would score by x-mas, maybe it was on the Official boards. Really, the shots back that up too (18-10). They were running around a lot in their own zone, and the Stars worked a pretty good cycle in the last half of that period. But I'm not expecting the Oilers to play a fully perfect game. Just telling it like it is though. It was their prototypical 1 bad period of the game. It wasn’t a bad 1st period until the last 5 minutes, you are right. They played that much better in the 2nd and 3rd though.

We won't win every game, but if we continue to put together an effort like we did the last couple games, we'll be alright. PP is looking better, we're creating scoring chances and for the most part we've been able to score on a regular basis this season. Top line has been held off he scoresheet the last couple of games, but they still have created a ton of chances. I think Penner could have had a couple goals atleast except for Turco playing an outstanding game. The other aspect is that Penner's line is drawing the other teams top D-pair, and allowing our other lines to have an easier time producing secondary scoring. The crash and banging of Stone, Storts, JFJ causes havoc for opposition D that I usually dread when it happens to us. I've been happy with the efforts in the last bunch of games, even when the results haven't always been in our favour. I thought we had a good game from start to finish. Visser stepping up and scoring (2 games in a row with goals) and Smid coming through (which brought a smile to my face) and Horcs being clutch in the SO(who would have thought!). JDD played a very good game tonight and thats two in a row for him. Hopefully he can keep it up long enough for the wall to return from injury. This was another big win for the team, they have to play this way every single game to get a playoff spot. 6 points out right now. The game in Florida Monday night is another huge one. Hoping Quinn and Renney keep these guys in the right state of mind, and they go out and get a win. Gonna need a good effort as the Panthers are no push over.
