Want to catch a glimpse of our future?

As per the Oilers home page, Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson and Anton Lander have been named to the Swedish World Junior team. The World Junior Hockey Championships are in Regina and Saskatoon this year. It might be worth a drive out there if you can get tickets to see MPS in action. But at the very least, we’ll be able to see them on TV.

Lander and Svensson are linemates for Timra IK of the Swedish Elite League. In 25 games, Svensson has 7 goals, 9 assists for 16 points and is -1. Lander has 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points and is also -1.

Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson currently ranks 30th in points amongst all players in the SEL. He is also 2nd in points amongst players 21 years of age or younger. Only Marcus Kruger (age 19) has more points, with 22 in 24 games (8 goals 14 assists).

Thanks for the reminder, Racki. Make sure to post lots during the tournament too. It’s one of the holiday traditions now…

My dad rarely watches hockey unless his Flames are in the playoffs or its the BOA (so he can usually rub it in my face) or I get him to watch some exciting playoff games. He watches enough to know who Pierre Mcguire is…we share the same views on him as much as many people probably do here too. We made a lot of fun of some of his ‘excited’ announcing in last years tourney.

Anyways long story short, it’d be good to keep track of all our prospects during the tournament. I’m sure we’ll get a good view of Eberle too. I’m excited to see how Kadri preforms as well.

Hey Racki, good head’s up on this! I look forward to catching this on TV at least.

On a positive note, at least there’s the Olympics to look forward to this year as well. :)
