N.O.: Somewhere in this thread, I made a comment about it too.. something like:
"I don't remember MacTavish ever putting Stortini on the powerplay. -1 Quinn":P

Odd decision. And one that I could see MacTavish doing too... rewarding guys that are playing hard, even though they're generally stonehands.

But you're right.. why would Stortini draw in but not Cogliano? That's beyond odd to me.

That was somewhat brutal. The Oilers did not match the physicality of the Flames, nor did they use enough speed to evade it. Disappointing result.

I wonder how many complaints there would be last year if MacTavish had used Stortini for over 3 minutes on the powerplay while Cogliano had just 30 seconds...
Our first line PP was actually doing some good things, but our man advantages all lasted just the single minute because the other half of it was eaten by the brutality of Horcoff/Stortini (I thought Nilsson was at least a bit creative and tried to get the puck to the dangerous areas)
I realize the likes of Comrie, Brule are out, but that second power play unit was dismal. I won't go into the defensive turnovers. That's just sad :P

Smid/Visnovsky is doing well, they seem to trust each other and use their strengths together well. Chorney, playing relatively smart again. Peckham had a few bad decisions. But our #3 and #4 men Gilbert, Grebs...ugh. There, I went into it.

I really think Penner should be taking the draws for Gagner on that line, he's always been good on the dot for whatever reason.

Wow, that's it? I wonder how much of that ice time drop had to do with him having the flu symptoms... same with his play tonight (although he did have one great defensive play tonight that I noticed). Or did Quinn take notice of some of the bad decisions he made (and Grebeshkov was no better) on occasion...

Zack: Awesome Smid sig!

FYI, Cogliano murdered on the dot.. 2 for 13 (15%). Gagner 3 for 10 (30%). Penner 6 for 10 (60%). Horcoff, characteristically reliable with 15 for 23 (65%).

Racki: Zack: agree. Chorney was rock solid, and Penner was good yet again. And yes, I too was expecting more from Peckham. He wasn’t bad or anything, in my opinion. I just hoped he would have been a physical force, and he wasn’t.

yeah I kinda expected him to beat someone's face in. But it's his first game, kinda takes a game or two to get adjusted, and being thrown into the BOA would be very confusing.

Anyways I miss rookie Gilbert. Only 13 mins TOI tonight.
