With regards to the Richards hti on Booth:

I agree with you Chucker, to an extent. Players have to make themselves aware of where they are on the ice and that a hit might be coming. With the hit on Booth though, he's more concerned with the D infront of him stepping up and leveling him, not Richards coming from behind/beside him and steamrolling him. Richards said after the game that he wasn't trying to hurt anyone, just trying to seperate him from the puck, but Booth wasn't in posession of the puck at the time of contact so that is out the window. I see it as more of a finishing a check, which is totally fine by me because he had just passed it off and then got hit. I think where I take most issue is that each player out there has an opportunity to let up on a hit if they choose to. What else does someone forsee will occur when they blindside a guy so hard that they fall down themselves after making the hit?

Who the hell would want to keep the team in Phoenix if Gretzky can’t sell hockey there? Good luck! Move the damn team already.
B.O.: I’m kind of pulling for a return of the <a href="http://m.blog.hu/je/jegkorong/image/nordiques3.jpg" rel="nofollow">Nords’ glorious fleur-de-lis uniform</a>
</blockquote>

haha nice analogy! I think this calls for a comic...

I think I completely agree with Chucker there on the hit. Although I still think they should get rid of the instigator penalty because it would really make a guy think twice about the repercussions when hitting a guy like that or in any matter really.

And on the Coyotes, just bring them to Canada already =p. Instead of having a Hamilton team though I personally would rather see a Jets team or maybe even a Nordiques team...

The problem with open ice hits like that is the guy had the puck, and it's not a hit from behind. I think this is why the NHL is affraid to target this type of hit. They are affraid guys will dance over the blue line without fear of a hit, and they are right to a degree. I don't like the fact he left on a stretcher but it is a different type of hit than Tucker's hit from behind.

I think what needs to be really focussed on is "intent to injure" here. The refs need to be given backing and balls to make that call when a predatory hit happens. It was a brutal shot and the ref should have the ability of replay to make that call too. This will make the decision of intent, in concert with the boys in TO, easier to call. Not all open ice hits that result in injuries are dirty. Lots are, but lots are not. The NHL needs to do video review of these and then if it's intent to injure, there are very clear rules there.

I'll skip the whole issue on headshots, and speak about the Coyotes. What's next?

Is the offer on the table that was agreed to any different than the offer that was already rejected by Baum? I'm sure some "conditions" have been altered, but the price point is still the same, leaving many people burned in Arizona no matter how strong the SPF.

Will Bettman pull a 180 and sell the Coyotes to our Canadian Blackberry overlord with the NHL quickly pocketing a cool 100 million?

I thought this one would be put to bed for a little while and am suprised to hear about Moyes agreeing to a sale that dollars wise was nowhere near the offer he received from Ballsilie. It is a business and at the end of the day it comes down to dollars and cents when it comes to a sale. Very interested in what's behind this deal. Hopefully we find out one day...
