This is the first regular season meeting of the two teams this year, however the teams met twice in the pre-season. The Oilers lost the first one 3-1 while the Oil won the second one 5-4 in OT. The Oilers are coming off of a decisive 5-2 win over the Wild, while the Canucks also came off a win versus the Wild with a final score of 2-1.
