GDT - Edmonton Oilers at Boston Bruins
Happy Halloween everyone! Saturday’s game is a morning game, so I thought I should get something off ahead of schedule for people to talk in. The Boston Bruins are coming off a nightmarish 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils. The Edmonton Oilers looked to be on their way to a blood bath of the Detroit Dead Things when in the third period, the visitors awoke from the dead. Ok, that’s enough lame Halloween analogies for now! The Oilers got off to a quick 4-0 lead, and then a 5-1 lead, and the Red Wings battled back to eventually tie the game at 5-5 to force overtime and a shootout. Let’s hope that the Oilers can take care of business against the Bruins and play 3 periods of hockey this time.

Lame picture. You come up with a better idea and I'll replace it.
Slow day at work here, what with Racki going home early sick, other individuals not even coming into work because they are “sick” (you know who you are), Trogdor getting his fancy coffee fix and me doing absolutely nothing. Unless management reads this, then I am working my ass off reviewing these lame documents.
Anyways, with a lack of anything better to talk about…
There has been some debate on my hockey team about this question…so I decided to throw it up in public and see what the people say.
In the following battle, who emerges victorious?

I see you all reaching for the panic button...
Three straight losses, 7 periods without a goal. Is it time to panic? Is the flu to blame for this problem, or the injuries?
I’d say to an extent, yes, that can be used as a good excuse. I think that there are two main problems with this team right now, and they will be swayed, for the most part, when some of the players return: a) our defense is weak and Quinn’s top pairing is a fairly weak pairing and b) due to injuries/flu, Quinn hasn’t been able to enforce his strategy of building a line of a grinder, a playmaker and a scorer. GDT - Edmonton Oilers vs. Detroit Red Wings
The Oilers are looking for a bit of revenge for last year, having lost all 4 of the games the two teams played (including one 8-3 disaster). Both teams are struggling right now. The Oilers haven’t scored a goal in 7 periods now, and have lost 3 in a row. The Red Wings are coming off a 5-4 win over Vancouver on Tuesday, however they lost their last 3 (albeit two of them were after regulation time). The Red Wings are also struggling to keep the puck out of their own net, allowing the 5th most goals against per game at 3.40 GA/Game. The Red Wings are going to be hoping they can turn things around on their favorite team to pick on from last year. Continue reading 'GDT – Oilers 6, Red Wings 5, Oct 29, 2009 – Game 13'»
Avs, Oil and Caps. Who's next?
So far this season three players have tested positive for the H1N1 virus. Patient zero was Peter Budaj of the Colorado Avalanche, more recently Ladislav Smid of the Edmonton Oilers and today news of Quintin Laing of the Washington Capitals. Colorado and Edmonton have met recently, but this was after Budaj had already been quarantined. The Caps have yet to play either team, so this isn’t just cross contamination.
