Cogs really made himself a name here as one of the prime up and comings, and he knows he has a huge role in the future here and he wouldn’t want to leave. Especially if he went to Ottawa he would have to start all over, and play in the shadows of Spezza and Alfredsson.

I really don’t know if I’d rather have Cogs “devastated” or saying “that’s just business.” He really shows that he wants to be here by saying how “devastated” he was. We always complain about players not wanting to be here. Well that’s because we trade away anyone that wants to be here.

I’m just glad Tambo went to apologize and try to mend some fences.

In a recent Horcoff interview with Jason Gregor, Gregor asked Horcoff if he called Cogliano or the others. Horcoff said he did and tried his best to calm the guys down, but he couldn’t reach Smid (who was overseas). But he did mention that while guys often don’t like to be traded, this case was a bit different in that it’s almost an honor to be mentioned in a big trade like that for a superstar.

I just hope they see it that way. No one wants these guys traded (ok, yah, many have said Penner’s name). But when you throw out a huge name like Heatley, suddenly you have to realize that almost no one is untradeable.

I hope these guys realize that. They’re all valuable to the team in some way.
