I’m a little behind the news on this one, as I was out doing the paperwork on a house I just bought (yay!).

Anyways, the Dallas Stars have named Charlie Huddy as Assistant Coach. This is a great signing for a team that just lost a very key component of their defensive unit.

I was on board with a clean-up of the coaching staff at the end of the year, but the one guy I really hoped would stick around was Charlie Huddy. He arguably did a fantastic job with the young defense we have here. Sheldon Souray may have even benefited from his mentorship as well, as last year he found a great balance between the offensive d-man we knew from Montreal and the defensive d-man we knew from New Jersey. While he is no defensive dynamo, he sure was far from that big question mark that he was in Montreal.

Huddy will definitely be missed, and admittedly it is disappointing to see him go to a Western Conference team, but I knew it wouldn’t be long before a team was smart enough to scoop him up. Best of luck in Dallas, Charlie!

It is me, yeah. I haven’t been around the forum lately, but have trying to keep up with the oilogosphere. Saw that you started this one – great stuff so far. It’s in my bookmarks!
